SUPPLEMENTAL BENEFITS - HAWAIIAN AIRLINES

Members at Hawaiian Airlines have had the opportunity over the last several years to enroll in a voluntary, supplemental benefits program.  You can select from a program of supplemental life, accident and critical illness/cancer insurance.

Premiums for these plans are paid through payroll deduction at Hawaiian Airlines.  Keep in mind that you can continue these benefits if you leave Hawaiian Airlines for any reason, including retirement. 

The supplemental benefit plans are communicated through periodic on-site enrollments at work locations.  The next on-site enrollment is scheduled to take place during the first quarter of 2010.  Enrollments are conducted by National Group Protection (NGP), an IAMAW union shop.

A mailing will be distributed to current participants at the end of the year, which will provide updated information on your coverage.  Prior to next year's open enrollment, a representative from NGP is going to visit work locations in January to listen to member feedback and address any service concerns or payroll deduction issues you may have.

An audit was recently conducted by Hawaiian Airlines, in conjunction with NGP, to identify and correct any discrepancies with payroll deduction amounts.  Any member with a deduction higher than it should have been has received a refund of the excess premium.  In the event a member's deduction was lower than it should have been, the missed premium has been waived by the insurance companies.  All deduction amounts were updated with the August 22^nd paychecks.
