    Washington, D.C., September 25, 2008 - Robert Roach, Jr., General Vice President of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) issued the following statement after Northwest Airlines shareholders approved the airline's merger with Delta Air Lines.

Negotiations Update IAM-C June 15 – 19, 2009

 

During the week of June 15 your committee met with the company representatives Blaine Miyasato and Jason Yamaoto. Janis Bumgarner was unavailable due to her participation in the Pilot’s negotiations now under Federal Mediation.

We began with the company presenting their proposals for changing contract items line by line, we presented ours last session. We realized that we needed to stay focused on major issues to be productive.Once the key items are addressed, the language will follow.

Local Lodge 1245

On Monday, May 11, Grand Lodge Representative Samson Po'omaihealani made an announcement to the membership present at our monthly Local Lodge Meeting that our sister Lodge, Local 1245, has been disbanded, effective May 1st. Based on the most recent Representation Election on the property of Aloha Air Cargo, the IAM Executive Council made this decision.

2009 Stutz Scholarship Available

The 2009 Adolph Stutz Memorial Scholarship Awards is open to children, spouses and dependent grandchildren (as defined by I.R.S.) of members (as of June 1, 2008) with one year or more of good standing in District Lodge 141 who are graduating seniors, or who are currently enrolled full time and/or commencing college full time.

Change of Address

In an effort to keep its membership informed, each year your Local and District Lodge sends out information through the postal mail. Associated with these mailings not only are there printing costs, but also there are mailing costs. This mailing cost continues to rise on a regular basis and is a big expense to the Lodge.
